New Ombre Hair Trend For Spring 2013 Featuring Beyonce

Ombre made its big Hollywood takeover last year with everyone from Selena Gomez to Ashley Tisdale rocking the hot new hair trend. We have to say, we’re much more excited about 2013′s toned down ombre hair trend, which Beyonce so perfectly showed off in her new Pepsi commercial, which launched today. In the 60-second TV commercial called “Mirrors,” an ombre-haired Beyonce dances to her latest single “Grown Woman” and, of course, sips Pepsi. “Embrace your past, but live for now,” she says in the ad… and the now version of Beyonce is clearly all about ombre.

The new toned down ombre hair trend of 2013 starts closer to the roots of the hair with highlights beginning within a couple of inches of the scalp. The highlights then ease into a lighter tone until the hair is at its lightest at the tips. We love that this give a more natural California girl feel to the ombre hair trend. It looks like the hair has actually been lightened because the older parts of the hair shaft have experienced more time in the sun and/or ocean water. And isn’t that what the ombre hair trend is supposed to take its inspiration from, anyway?

Even though blonde is obviously not Beyonce’s natural hair colour, the new subtle ombre hair trend makes the transition in colour so gradual that it even looks like blonde could be Bey’s natural shade. This approach to ombre has the same appeal as last year’s ombre trend in the sense that it lets your dye job last a lot longer without exposing your roots, but it’s also a look that’s more appropriate for women over age 25, and that we can definitely put our stamp of approval on.
